Playas de Ibiza. Ibiza Beaches. Calas de Ibiza

Description and type: To reach this leave Portinatx along the asphalted road, continuing as far as a tower-off onto an unsurfaced road. It is well sign posted. Also reached from San Juan taking an asphalted road which leads from the north side of the village.

Means of transport: By private car or by bicycle, for the latter some expertise is necessary because of the steep gradients which make up the final part of the journey.

Distance: 28 kilometres from Ibiza, 5 kilometres from San Juan.

Description: This is a deep coastal inlet at whose far end is found a strip of sand, bordered on each side by steep cliffs.
Length: 50 metres. · Width: 30 metres.
Composition: Of medium-grained natural sand, with sections of rounded boulders and rocks.
Sea bottom: Mainly of stone and rock, covered with underwater vegetation, with sandy sections in between. The gradient is fairly gentle, with the water not reaching 2 metres in depth until 20 metres from the shore.
Direction, prevailing winds: Its north-eastern aspect ensures that the winds are from the sea to the land, although its shape as an enclosed inlet screens out the stronger ones.
Panoramic aspects: This is an area whose surroundings are amongst the island's wildest and most untouched, with the presence of impressive cliffs covered with coniferous greenery.

SUMMARY COMMENT: The beauty of its surroundings and its relative distance from the municipality's main roads make this a peaceful place, providing good opportunities for rest, and swimming, with the possibility of snorkelling in waters which are rich in marine flora and fauna.

Other points of interest in the municipality of San Juan are Port de ses Caletes, Es Canaret, Es Calo de s'Illa and Es Portixol. All these are either small rocky coves or areas among rocks with access to the sea.
